HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PASTOR ROBERT J. WILLIAMS!!! He celebrated his birthday on November 10th.

 

Church Conference will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 6:30 PM. Note the date change.

The Board of Christian Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 6:30 PM.

The Board of Evangelism is spear-heading the Feeding the 10,000 Project. November is fill-in month. Everyone is asked to please continue donating for a successful collection! Volunteers are requested to help count and stock items after the 11 AM service.

Operation 10,000 for Feeding the 10,000 is as follows…

¨ Sunday, November 18th—Pull Out/Stack Day after service or 2 PM. WE NEED MEN

¨ Monday, November 19th—Pack Boxes at 6:30 PM

¨ Tuesday, November 20th is DISTRIBUTION DAY, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Time TBA.

 

Children’s Church is held during the 11 AM service. The service will be for children ages 4-11 years old. Children’s Church need Volunteers! Please see Francine Mallory for more information.

It’s time for our 2018 General Claims Campaign! Yes! Let’s help our Christian Methodist Episcopal Church missions by paying your claims today. These proceeds help support our CME Schools and overseas missions. Each adult is asked to pay $7 per week through November 18. Each child 18 and under is asked to pay $1 per week. Our theme for this year is “Seeking God’s Total Blessing” the scripture is Deuteronomy 28:8.

The Children’s Praise Dancers (ages 7-11) will rehearse on Monday,  Nov. 12th at 6:30 PM. All children interested in joining please see Iris Hale or Sydnee Burnette.

The Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) (ages 12 – 17 yrs) is asking all youth interested in joining  to please attend the meeting on Saturday, November 17th from 1 PM—2 PM.   All parents of interested youth are also asked to please attend this meeting. All CYF members are encouraged to bring a friend to the meeting. See Minister Nancy Gibson for more information.

 

Frustrated with setting financial goals year after year after year and never seeing them come to pass? The Financial and Women’s Day ministries of Williams Memorial invite you to join them on, Sunday, November 18th from 2-4pm for a financial planning for 2019 workshop entitled “Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees.”  Habakkuk 2:2 reads, “Write the vision, make it plain.”  If interested, please sign up in the vestibule today. Make 2019 your best year ever! Light refreshments will be served. Any questions, please contact Ms. Amanda Little, Ms. Yongkesha McCollum and/or Rev. Penny Torrence.

The Interpretive Dancers (Young Adult & Adult) will practice on the following Saturdays: December 8th, January 12th, February 9th at 11:30 AM. Any young adults and adults interested in joining are welcome to attend.

If you like to sing, please consider singing for the LORD! Join the choir for you. We would love for you to be a part of our music ministry. Available choirs are: Male Chorus, Senior Choir, Mass Choir, Choral Ensemble, Gospel Choir, Robert J. Youth and Young Adult Choir, Children’s Choir.

Pastor Robert J. Williams would like to meet with the Back to Basics Committee on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM for a very important meeting. Committee members are: Rolanda Baldwin, Delia Bates, Rev. Frederick Douglas, Gwen Dow, Cedric Hale, Reginald Lendon, Francine Mallory, Naquita McCormick, Peggy McCormick, Rev. Gaynell Reid, Bernard Terry, Misty Terry, First Lady Dian Williams.

Youth and Young Adult Sunday is every 4th Sunday of the month, during the 11 AM service. This opportunity allows the youth and young adults a chance to participate in service, and trains them to become future leaders. If you would like for your child or children and young adults to participate, please sign the sheet in the vestibule.

The Church Anniversary Committee

  • The Church Anniversary Committee is looking for persons who have been members for 50 years at Williams Memorial (from the join date to the present day.) Please see anyone on the committee or leave your name and number in the church office.
  • Information on the founding members of Williams Memorial is needed. If you have any information on the following persons, please submit it to the church office: Judge Gainer, Fred Sawyer, Gladys Brandon and the Brandon family.

The Missionary Society has Helena B. Cobb Scholarship forms for traditional and non-traditional college students. The scholarship award is for $200. See Tammy Leach or Peggy McCormick for more information.

Young Ladies (18 and up) looking for something to do in the church are invited to join the Missionary Society. See Peggy McCormick.

The Durham District Evangelism Team is collecting supplies for hurricane victims in eastern NC. Please bring in the following supplies for this effort: diapers (baby, toddler, and adults), paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies.

Thanksgiving Service will be held at Williams Memorial CME Church on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Rev. F. O. Bass  of  Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, High Point, will be the speaker. Please come out to show how thankful you are!

The men of Williams Memorial will serve breakfast at the Open Door Ministry on Sat, Nov 24th. All men are asked to be at the shelter by 6:15 AM.

Union Hill School – There are several opportunities to help students and families at Union Hill School during the holiday season.Emily Parsons, School Social Worker Union Hill Elementary School. Phone: 336-819-2130, Fax: 336-882-7162. To all Presidents and Heads of Boards.

  •  In great need of sweat/pull-on pants, underwear, t-shirts and coats in all sizes for our students.
  •  Always open for volunteers for reading buddies for our 2nd and 3rd graders, classroom volunteers (I will match the  volunteer to a specific teacher in a grade level of the volunteers choosing), volunteers for our garden, or a Big Buddy volunteer (volunteer would be match with a single student.)
  • Angel Tree Program.  We are asking individuals or groups to adopt a student (or family if desired) and purchase gifts from a list completed by the family (total of gifts around $100).

  • A Gospel Fest on November 18, 2018, at Memorial United Methodist Church, to help the Peacemakers of Our Community in High Point. Calling individuals from all African American Churches in High Point, NC to sing in a choir under the spiritual leadership of Brother Reggie Gillespie. Rehearsals November 17th from 9:45 AM—11:45 AM, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1327 Cedrow Dr., High Point NC.
  • Triad Food Pantry welcomes donations for their Back Pack program. The program helps ensure every child will continue to get food for combating weekend hunger. Small juice boxes, small packets of oat meal, small ramen noodles, small fruit snacks are items you may choose from to donate.  Contact Jo Williams, Community Services Director at 336-869-4428 or email: snmart2@aol.com.
  • Evelyn Turrentin-Agee, who sings “God Gave His Best” & “God Did It” will be at Living Water Baptist Church Gospel Concert on Saturday, November 17th at 4:30 PM. Doors open at 4 PM.
